Concert
- history
Steve Harley andCockneyRebel on Tour
One of
the most extraordinary concerts of Steve was on the PinkPop-festival in
Holland.
In the
pouring rain Steve got most of them under his umbrella. After singing 'Such A
Dream', which took about 10 minutes, he said to audience,
"This is the first time CockneyRebel ever played on an
open air festival and I don't like it because people at the back can't see my
face!!!". He was really IT that day. 'Sebastian' was written for
people in the back he said and started. Then the song was played in Cm and
sounded much more melodramatic as today. Beautiful!
More
songs played;
'Hideaway', 'Judy
Teen', 'Mirror Freak', 'My Only Vice' and 'Bed In
The Corner' was already from the new album then.
The
concert was on the third of June 1974, now 30 years ago. He never played 'Such A
Dream' again. Time flies...
The
album 'ThePsychomodo' has been released
about a month later. After the release of 'ThePsychomodo' the band split up
and Steve had to promote 'Mr. Soft'. It was great here
in Holland because when playing for AVRO's TopPop he had Stuart Elliott and
Herbie Flowers as musicians. Probably one of the rarest video-recordings ever
done by Steve.
